Respect
Keep it friendly.
Gartner is a global community of many types of people, who all have the right to feel comfortable and who may not always think what you think, believe what you believe, or see what you see. So please be polite and respectful in your interactions with other members. Do not post bullying or harassing comments of any kind. Degrading comments about race, gender, culture, religion, national origin, physical or mental disability, sexual orientation or identity, or any other protected class is strictly prohibited. Disagreements are okay; hate speech is not. Healthy debates are natural, but be kind: do not personally attack your fellow commenter during a disagreement.
Current events inevitably blur into work. Politics is a personal subject that many of us take seriously and discuss passionately. But there’s a big difference between expressing views with friends over dinner and broadcasting those same views to thousands, potentially millions, on social media. When comments are expressed on these platforms, views can easily--and increasingly--be misinterpreted, taken out of context or viewed as those of your employer. And in these circumstances, such actions can severely damage the reputation of the individual and the company. Please apply sensitivity and common sense to your comments and try to avoid comments that may spark political debate.
Keep it clean.
We're all in this together to create a welcoming environment. Healthy debates are natural, but be kind: do not personally attack your fellow commenter during a disagreement. Do not use profanity or any derogatory or otherwise offensive language or content on our posts or page. Refrain from posting comments that contain predatory conduct towards minors; or pornography, promote self-harm, animal cruelty; libel, slander, or defamation of character; or threats.
Relevance
Keep it on the topic of the post.
We welcome your feedback, provided your comments are relevant to the topic that Gartner has shared.
Do not advertise for yourself or another individual on our posts or page. Comments containing advertising or solicitation, external links, and/or redundant comments are often not perceived as valuable and are likely to be removed.
No spamming. Spamming can include excessive or deceptive favoriting, commenting, tagging, or soliciting. Do not post information that is false, inaccurate, misleading, unintelligible, or irrelevant.
Privacy
Keep it safe.
Being part of our social media community requires mutual trust. Authentic, expressive discussions make groups great, but may also be sensitive and private. Do not post account-specific information or other personally identifiable information. To protect your privacy and keep your access secure, we cannot discuss client-specific information on any public websites. Do not comment with the names of any individuals and/or other information that could allow someone to identify the individual(s), such as an address, phone number, social insurance number, license plate number, hometown, school, etc., unless those individuals have expressly consented to such use.
Make sure it’s yours.
Refrain from posting comments with third-party intellectual property, such as any copyright-protected material (art, music, videos, written text), or any trade-marks or logos, except with the express consent of the owners of such intellectual property; information plagiarized from another source; third-party confidential or non-public information.
Business Advice
Keep it neutral.
Participate in the conversation, but do not offer your own services or market your firm on our posts or page. Do not post or comment with anything that you would not want others to know.
